Liebherr Electric Mining Equipment
A unique experience for Bauma visitors
- 30 years of experience in electric vehicles
- R 9200 E: Efficient engine and zero emissions
- T 236: Increased productivity
With extensive experience in electric vehicles, Liebherr presents the R 9200 E and T 236, designed to meet the demands of Bauma 2019 mining equipment. Working together, these models help reduce environmental pollution. The bucket of the R 9200 E allows it to efficiently load the T 236 truck, making them the perfect combination for increased productivity.
Liebherr will offer Bauma visitors a unique experience - starting a 200-ton mining excavator with a giant switch. To achieve this, Liebherr’s technical teams had to overcome a major challenge: connecting an electrical cable capable of delivering 6,000 volts to power the excavator while ensuring complete safety for spectators.

R 9200 E – 100% Electric 210-Tonne Excavator
The R 9200 E excavator is specifically designed to meet the demands of the mining industry. With an output of 850 kW (1,139 hp), the 210-ton electric R 9200 E offers exceptional performance while remaining environmentally friendly. This model reduces emissions and noise, making it safer for both operators and the environment. Compared to diesel-powered excavators, the R 9200 E reduces operating costs by 25%.

To minimize power starting inrush current, all Liebherr electric mining excavators are equipped with autotransformer starting devices, preventing disruptions to the mine’s power grid when the excavator is started.
The electric excavator is ideally suited for the harsh conditions of mining operations. It experiences lower power losses than a diesel engine and can start more easily, even in extreme cold.
Liebherr also offers a cable reel system for all electric excavators. This system enhances mobility and reduces the number of personnel required for cable handling. The autonomous cable reel has a capacity of 245 to 300 meters, depending on the excavator type.

R 9200 E at Eurovia
The Lausitzer Grauwacke mine is located in Lieske, northeastern Germany. Since 2010, it has been part of the Eurovia Group. The mine extracts greywacke, frost-resistant sandstone primarily used in road, railway, and port construction. This mine is also a certified supplier of high-speed rail track ballast.
Eurovia and Lausitzer Grauwacke are committed to continuously improving their mining operations with sustainable and eco-friendly solutions. As part of this initiative, Eurovia’s largest excavator is now the electric Liebherr R 9200 E, which has replaced an internal combustion engine-powered excavator.

Liebherr Mining Equipment: The Highest Level Of Uptime And Cost-Efficiency
Since its entry into the mining industry, Liebherr has set high performance standards. With cutting-edge technology, durable components, and comprehensive service, Liebherr's mining trucks, excavators, and crawler tractors deliver exceptional efficiency and cost-effectiveness, even in the toughest environments
Liebherr mining vehicles come in various configurations, focusing on high productivity, optimized fuel consumption, and noise reduction. This flexibility allows customers to adapt machines to their specific worksite conditions. Today, Liebherr Mining is the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) offering the widest range of electric excavators. These models include: R 9150 B, R 9200, R 9250, R 9350, R 9400, R 9800. Available in 130 to 800-ton capacities, Liebherr's electric excavators are designed for optimal efficiency.

Beyond hydraulic excavators, Liebherr has also integrated electric drive systems into its Off-Highway-Trucks. In fact, Liebherr was the first manufacturer to develop a 100-ton diesel-electric truck featuring a four-corner oil-immersed braking system and Active Front End technology.
Additionally, Liebherr offers the Trolley Assist solution for its Off-Highway Truck range. Trolley Assist uses pantographs to connect the trucks drive system to overhead power lines when operating on uphill, enhancing efficiency and productivity.
